Almost Human: Favorite Scenes: Simon Says

I got your back, bro!
I know it's been a while since I've posted a "Favorite Scenes" post but doing fan campaigns I find they tend to take up a lot of time. But here's a run down of my favorite scenes from "Simon Says".

He's a bit moody today

The first scene where we start the episode is a solar flare has been playing hectic with the power so all combat androids can only get half a charge. Detective Paul addresses the station and as usual John likes to press Paul's buttons with short jokes. Now Dorian greets Paul with a punch in the face because he wasn't given charging priority but immediately he calms down and explains his anger. This scene, hell the entire episode, we get to see Dorian with his little out bursts and mood swings which are hilarious. But we also see John start to cover for Dorian for once. John says: "I'll take a half charged DRN over a fully charged MX any day." We also see Paul let the incident slide. So he's not such a dick after all.

Dorian, would you stop punching things!

Right afterwards Dorian is more enraged than usual. It may seem small but it really is frustrating for Dorian to be treated like a second class citizen at the department. John hears his pain but of course, he likes to diffuse any situation with his sarcasm. Dorian suggests becoming room mates but I believe John says no more because he wants to keep his work life and his home life separate. He sees a lot on the job and going home is where his sanctuary is. So it's less to do with reliving a few glory days from high school than the White Cheetah having to share his space. On the one side, John has discovered another way to put Dorian in quiet mode: boring high school football stories.

Put up the shield

The part where John and Dorian deal with their first bomb victim is touching because John is really hesitant to give up on this victim. He puts up the bomb shield but he promises to find out who did this to him. Then with the second bomb victim, John decides to help save the victim instead of letting Dorian shoulder the burden alone or to see another person die because of some psycho. Dorian is so happy that his euphoric enthusiastic hooray makes John laugh. First time we've seen John laugh out loud in a long time. Usually he's brooding.

"We survived! We survived..."

After Maldonado has a run down of who Simon is, she stops John and asks if Dorian's out bursts will be a problem. Also I was surprised that Paul didn't out Dorian's charge problem. John puts his neck out for Dorian just proving that John makes sure to have his partner's back.

Worst accessory ever

I loved the scene where Dorian climbs a building to get to Simon before John's bomb collar goes off. Dorian only has a 15% charge but he scales the building anyway. Paul thinks maybe he should get a DRN as he turns to his MX: "Can you do that?" NOPE! And just when Dorian was at his lowest charge, he shocks Simon locking up his muscles so he doesn't let go of the dead man' switch. Then he cuffs the son of bitch and shuts off. Synthetic or not, Dorian is one great cop.

Let's diffuse this explosive situation

John and Maldonado have a celebration drink but John realizes that he and Simon are similar. They both had bad psych reviews but the difference is, John isn't as imbalanced as Simon and John can absolutely get a girlfriend (I mean look at him then look at Simon; out of the two unbalanced minds I would choose John Kennex). Also Simon didn't have someone like Maldonado to vouch for him or even believe in him. In that respect, John is fortunate to have friends like his captain and Dorian who will back him up. John is not like Simon in that John doesn't do too much blaming other people so much as himself when it comes to making mistakes. John's the type of guy who shoulders the responsibility and tries to make up for his mistakes by trying to be better at his job.

Next episode is "You Are Here" which John shines with his sarcasm.
