Saving Revolution AND Almost Human

Fans of Almost Human & Revolution both received HUGE blows with sudden cancellations after weeks of positive feedback from networks. Both projects are produced by Bad Robot and J.J. Abrams. Yet both shows have passionate Fandoms backing them.

Who could say no to a good looking cast like this?

After weeks of rumors of canceling Revolution, fans have rallied behind the show doing projects, tweeting at advertisers and doing Sunday tweet outs and it seemed that the show was a certain for renewal but suddenly and without warning, NBC announced that they were canceling the show. Everyone was shocked: the fans, the producers, the writers, and even the cast and crew were baffled. BUT once fans heard this horrible news they blew up every social network with disappointment and anger along with the hash tag: RelocateRevolution.

Get ready for a fight!

Jon Favreau (director of Iron Man 1 & 2 and one of the producers of Revolution) contacted consulting producer Ben Edlund (he helped creator Eric Kripke on his other cult TV show Supernatural) and both were surprised by the fans' passion and are now trying to see if they can get another network to pick up Revolution for Season 3.

In this reality are we on Season 5?

I ask Revolution fans not to insult NBC no matter how easy or tempting it may be. Insulting the network will only make the campaign harder and NBC will hold out rights on the show out of spite. As long as NBC has the rights then they have the power over the show's fate and we want a Season 3 because we love the story, the characters, and just about everything else! I also encourage fans when contacting other networks to talk about how much money they would make if they took on the show: show appearances, merchandise, advertisers, etc. Networks look at profits over quality (which is why we have so many reality shows like The Bachelor *gag*). Keep tweeting at advertisers and maybe look at new advertisers and see if they would want to get on board. I guarantee if a show has enough viewings and popularity they'll jump at the chance.

Now what can we do to fix this situation?

Now for Almost Human fans: the petition we've been sharing around has gotten up to 20,000 signatures and has already sprung some interest from other networks. The SyFy channel has politely said no but I would ask them to do an Almost Human marathon and see how they like it. Netflix has also showed a little interest from one of it's lower but important producers who said he would pass it on to his bosses. Good signs!

Let's show them what we can do

Like Revolution fans I would encourage Humaniacs to appeal to networks in terms of profit. Tweet at advertisers who have advertised for the show and tweet at possible advertisers on Facebook and Twitter. I ALSO encourage fans to STOP insulting FOX. Yes I've done it too on occasion but it just makes the network spiteful, which means they'll hold onto the rights of the show until it's too late. Instead plead with Warner Bros. TV to give Almost Human to another network and again speak in terms of profit.

Everyone can play a part...

What's daunting about taking on Almost Human, although a wonderful show, is that it's expensive. I don't know about you but I have no problem letting networks know it's okay if they cut the budget. I don't care about the special effects no matter how cool they are. The only time I care about Sci-Fi special effects is in a movie because you want it to be big and exciting so you can get a huge return on the money you already spent on it. I just want the characters to stay. The characters are what fans love most about the show and as long as we have that I don't care what budget cuts they make.

Not threatening here just showing you my Kennex gun

Revolution and Almost Human are both out-of-the-box masterpieces that provide viewers with intelligent thought provoking stimulation and we need more of that on TV. Both shows have provoked passion in viewers and I believe that one or the other or BOTH can be saved and become great successes. Make sure to keep in touch with other fans and be in the know of any campaign projects but agree on 1 project at a time. The fault of Fandoms is that they can be so disconnected; standing together and giving undivided focus on 1 project can make a HUGE difference.
