Almost Human: The Bends: Favorite Scenes

I'm addicted to these guys!
Although Almost Human has been cancelled by FOX, loyal fans still fight for the show's renewal and I'll still be listing my favorite scenes from each episode of Almost Human and this week is "The Bends".

Not a drug you want to get into

It's not a cop show unless there's some drugs involved and in the future, drugs have only gotten more bizarre and even deadlier.

"Bon appetite"

My first favorite scene has to be when John and Dorian are in a Japanese restaurant and Dorian is complaining for John to hurry up so they can get back on the street. If we didn't know that Dorian loves being a cop then we do now. Yet John just wants to relax and have his Asian cuisine. Don't worry, Dorian always finds a way to get John back for his inconsiderate behavior. Dorian has Rosetta Stone in his programming so he used his influential tongue and charm to have the chef prepare some sushi for John to enjoy. By sushi I mean a real raw dish: a la slug. John should have put some sauce on that slug or maybe some salt to add flavor. Not wanting to be rude or a chicken, John scarfed down that slug like a champ. I wonder if John will ever make Dorian pay for that prank (hint, hint FOX).

"He deserves my allegiance"

One can simply make the entire show about John and Dorian in the car talking. Dorian and John were heading to his friend's cabin and Dorian suggested that maybe John was wrong and that his friend really was a dirty cop. But John says that a friend of his deserves his allegiance until he has absolute proof that suggests otherwise. I love how John is such a loyal friend. He values people who can connect with him on an emotional level and he can talk to them about his problems. That's why he values Dorian more than any MX.

"But Callum Waits wears a fedora"

Rudy is so sweet natured and has a good heart, which is why he'll do even the most dangerous jobs to show that he's more than a nerd in a lab but a very devoted law keeper. I love the scene where Rudy shows off his undercover outfit. I don't care what Detective Paul says, Rudy looks good with a fedora. The scene in Rudy's lab where he first shows his undercover disguise to Stahl and Paul, I like how even when Paul had Rudy bent over a table, he kept his cool. He's not doing this because he has "James Bond" aspirations; Rudy knows the seriousness of the situation. Rudy working his magic in making the Bends drug was like watching Mozart, but then he forgot the iodine. Still I thought it was funny when a knob ricocheted and hit an MX full blown in the eye.

It's like watching Mozart at work, but don't forget the iodine!

"Maybe you should come in this time..."

The best laughing scene (that rivals the slug eating scene) is when John and Dorian take a trip downtown to see John's old CI. John stops Dorian from going inside the dive bar because he doesn't want Dorian to get hurt; they don't take kindly to androids. Well if they don't like androids they certainly hate cops as they sent John flying through the window. Dorian did his best to trying not to laugh. John just brushes himself off then says: "Maybe you should come in this time." Maybe he should, John.

Oh Shit the jig is up

Rudy is a shy guy but in the scene where he was face to face with the Bishop (corrupt police chief) and asked why all other cooks couldn't come close to matching Rudy's skills, Rudy let us know that his skill comes from his passion for science. He loves how machines are built and how a chemical mixture is made. Rudy may not be strong or physically imposing but his dedication to his work is unmatched and what makes Rudy... well Rudy. That's also why we love him.

Street Justice...

This scene is small but it had a huge impact. John comes face to face with his best friend's killer. The Bishop is on the ground bleeding out from gunshot wounds. He kept saying that he'll never go to prison. So John deals out some old West, street justice and just finishes this criminal off with a kill shot. John is a dedicated cop but that dedication can become personal. He's not afraid of bending the rules or even the law to do what needs to be done to get the bad guy. We also see that John doesn't have much faith in the judicial system (even though in "Blood Brothers" he made sure a witness lived to testify against crazy clone making rich guy). I suppose with personal matters, John doesn't mind throwing away the rule book for the sake of the chance to sleep well at night. We don't mind that, really.

"No we can't get into a bar fight!"

The final scene with John and Dorian in the car with Rudy was very sweet. Dorian promised to take Rudy out to celebrate a job well done to John's favorite bar, MacQuaids. John was against the idea but looking at Rudy and Dorian's pleading face how could he say no? Although John has a few ground rules. Still it was really nice of John to treat members of his team to a night out (even though they had to pretend to have just met).

No one sends Dorian to the scrap heap

Next week I detail my favorite scenes from "Blood Brothers". A lot of good scenes in that episode. I implore Almost Human fans to keep fighting. I recommend going to the DRNbots Facebook page to see what you can do to help the campaign and also follow them on Twitter @DRNBots and follow Xeen CYR @AlmostHumanFR and follow our favorite MXs: @DarrenEScott, @garfieldwilson, & @AnthonyKonechy.

We got ourselves a situation...
