So much could have happened between them |
Katherine always adapted... |
In 1490 or so, Katherine gave birth to her illegitimate daughter, Nadia whom she never got to hold as soon as she gave birth. Because of the shame it brought on her family, Katherine was kicked out of Bulgaria and so she came to England in 1492 where she quickly adapted herself (that never seemed to change about her) and then she came face to face with Klaus and the Original Family.
They never would have gone back to New Orleans had they stayed in Mystic Falls |
Given that Elijah and Klaus were in love with Tatia (Katherine's ancestor and the previous doppelgänger of the Petrovas and well you know the story of Amara) I believe seeing her face again was interesting for both brothers. Obviously for Klaus from a Freudian stand point got off on the fact that he could have sex with Tatia's double. You never forget your first love and given how far Klaus had come and how he became a master at mental and emotional torture, I have no doubt his broken heart over Tatia's refusal to choose either Mikaelson brother was overjoyed at the prospect of having a chance at some poetic revenge. On the other brother, Elijah was awestruck. "Forgive me you remind me of someone..." he said. We know Elijah has a sentimental side. So while Klaus saw this as poetic justice, Elijah saw it as a sort of second chance. Elijah developed feelings for Katherine and this once again put a strain on the brothers' relationship but what would have happened had Elijah found Katherine, brought her back and Klaus had broken the Hybrid curse?
Klaus ends all his arguments with family this way |
First of all, Trevor and Rose would have died then and there in 1492. Then Elijah did mention that he had an elixir that may or may not have worked to revive Katherine after Klaus had drained her dry. I think Klaus would have definitely discovered his mother's little loophole: he must kill a Petrova doppelgänger to break the curse but he must have a Petrova doppelgänger alive so he could use her blood to make more hybrids. So had Elijah given Katherine the elixir and she had come back to life, then I think Klaus would have forgiven Elijah but then put a dagger in his heart for disobeying him.
We would never have met the Salvatore brothers. Unthinkable! |
It was through Katherine's vampire blood that Damon and Stefan became vampires. So if she had died in 1492 then Stefan and Damon would never have met her. Given the doppelgänger curse I think they would have met the Amara doppelgänger and fight over her but since they were all human they would have grown old and died. I think maybe the Amara doppelgänger would have paired up with Damon or some other guy and continue the Petrova line leading up to Elena. Then Elena would never have met the Salvatore brothers.
She looks good for a woman her age. |
If Katherine had died then Klaus would have been super pissed anyway. He and everyone else weren't aware that Katherine had an illegitimate child out there to continue the bloodline. You know how Katherine loved to keep her secrets. But I have no doubt that Klaus would have found Elena in Mystic Falls. Elena would have still broken up with Matt; Caroline would still be my least favorite person because she would have probably remained human unless Klaus got to her so he could get to Elena; Tyler would probably still have activated his wolf curse and in the books (if anyone ever read those things which were more screwed up and bloodier than the show) Tyler tried to rape Elena in the books I think but instead he raped Caroline who gave birth to his twins then turned into a wolf... (Yeah I like the TV show better). So I don't know if Tyler would have tried to sleep with Elena but given how many of these characters switch partners so quickly it wouldn't have been that strange.
Tyler still would have been a dick |
You could bet that Klaus would have still tried to settle in Mystic Falls. He would have had Elena right where he wanted her to do with what he willed: be his blood bag and Petrova baby maker to continue the bloodline so he could keep making hybrids. Elena's life would have been lived by Klaus's whim. Elena is a strong person and would have done anything to protect her loved ones and if she had gotten married and had kids she would have worked hard to keep them safe from Klaus. She would have given him her blood but doubtful she'd be happy about it. You could bet though that Elijah would have been Elena's ally. Not sure if he would have "fallen in love" with Elena like he did Katherine or like now admire her compassion and noble heart. It's hard to know with Elijah. He's open but at the same time closed; he likes to keep his heart protected but he can't help but wear his heart on his sleeve.
Rebekah would have attended proms! |
Rebekah? Well she didn't like Katherine but she and Elena had a moment before Elena literally stabbed her in the back. Since that wouldn't have happened then they would have probably become friends or frenemies, how ever you would view it. Then there's Klaus and Elena's relationship again. While Elijah would have done his best to shield Elena from Klaus's cruelty I can't help that like with Katherine, would Klaus have slept with Elena then have his hybrid baby? Why do I keep wanting them to have a baby? AAAHHH! I guess because I still love Joseph Morgan and Nina Dobrev's chemistry; it was always fascinating. Anyway, since Tyler had the wolf gene, I think he still would have become a hybrid. And like I mentioned before, Tyler may have become obsessed with Elena.
He would have killed the annoying human Caroline & I would have loved it. |
As for the rest, Klaus would probably still show interest in Caroline but Caroline and Elena would have become estranged and then Caroline (being jealous of Elena as a human) would have annoyed Klaus. No doubt he probably would have snapped Caroline's neck. As for Bonnie I think she would have been a one woman army against the Originals making her either still friends with Elena or also put a strain on their relationship. Then there's the doppelgänger curse. The travelers would have probably made an appearance. Then Mikael. I think he still would have been locked up in that crypt since it was Katherine who had set him free and if she had died centuries earlier then he would have rested their for centuries more. Esther? Well not really sure. Hard to say since Klaus was holding onto his two brothers Kol and Finn in their coffins until he had built a home for them all. Klaus would have probably released his brothers and try the family thing.
No daddy to ruin everything that's for sure. |
Well those are my thoughts. If someone writes a fan fiction about this alternate timeline, send it to me please because I would love to read it and see what would have happened had Katherine had died in 1492. It's also nice to hear other fans' opinions and thoughts on the subject. Who knows maybe Julie Plec will see it and think of making a TV movie about it. One can only hope!
They still would be at odds. There's just something about the Petrovas... |
