Almost Human: Favorite Scenes: Unbound

Captian, Sarah Connor Terminator has arrived

Sorry these "Favorite Scenes" posts keep getting later and later. So many fan campaigns, my own screenplays, and videos require attention and get in the way. But better late than never! So here are my favorite scenes from Almost Human "Unbound".

"Bed wetters."

        1. It's not an Almost Human episode unless we laugh. First scene I loved was when Dorian and John giving a tour of the station to a grade school class. John and Dorian have different approaches to kids especially when it comes to their education. John was like that smart ass kid in school who liked to make snarky comments where as Dorian was like the vert patient informative brochure. Dorian wanted the kids to learn but John kinda wanted to show the kids the "cool" stuff about being a cop. For one thing you get to shoot bad guys. Then John showed those little kids the dark side of crime: a guy with his arm blown clean off. Of course the kids were all disgusted as well as traumatized (so guess who's getting those kids' therapy bills). Dorian: "You went too far, John." Then John says with all the badass coolness he could muster: "Bedwetters." Clearly Dorian likes to break things gently while John just likes to dive into the gritty details. No doubt John was born to be a cop. He certainly has a stronger stomach for the job (which is more than I can say for that kid who up chucked all over the floor). But if I wanted to learn to swim I would ask Dorian to teach me because he'll be patient and kind and hold you to make you feel safe while John would just have thrown you into the deep end and call for you to paddle.

"Son..." "Dad..."

          2. Dorian meeting his creator was a deeper look into Dorian's past. Dr. Nigel Vaughn viewed his androids as his children so we saw this as a father and son reunion. Dorian should have thanked Vaughn for his "lower hardware"; the look on John's face when he whipped it out was hilarious! That aside it wasn't just the "family reunion" that made me love the scene. Vaughn and John had a common dark mark on their records that made them pariahs. "Everywhere I went they knew, they KNEW: 'There goes that guy who made that robot! That robot that killed all those people!'" Yeah John knew what it was like to have people whisper behind your back and treat you like some sort of scarlet letter.

"Scientists gotta eat, detective."

          3. We got a first look at these so called "Synthetic Souls" that Dr. Vaughn created. John said, "So you're to blame" like it was some horrible thing but given how most of the DRNs turned out I kind of got what John was saying. However, I loved what Dr. Vaughn said next: "I can be blamed for many things but not this." He said something like that. Either way I saw how passionate Vaughn was, which led to the creation of our favorite android: Dorian.

"Dad! Danica is hitting me!"

         4. These were few of the scenes where we got to see Rudy be himself and have a conversation with a character outside the office. He and Vaughn were two artists trading secrets and pointers. I saw that Vaughn appreciated Rudy's compassion and love for his work where as everyone else was against him. Vaughn said he put a piece of himself into each of his work not unlike an artist. As a creator whatever the medium, your work is more important and meaningful because it's a piece of your soul that you wish to share with the world. It's like watching your heart take a stroll on the outside so it explains why Dorian turned out so well and why when Vaughn was desperate and angry at the world that misunderstood him that Danica became the way she was. It's almost supernatural if you think about it. Pieces of your soul, dark and light, running around causing pain but also healing others.

There's a gooey center inside that
titanium exterior somewhere.

        5. The one scene I loved with Danica was when she was driving the cab and a woman with her little ballerina daughter just hopped into the car. Danica (in my opinion very politely) told them to get out of the car but you know how some people are: stubborn to the point where they cause a fit to get their way (customers are always right my ass). But just when Danica was about to waste that bitch, the little girl said, "I think you're very pretty." We saw that Danica wasn't an all angry terminator bent on destruction. Like Dorian, Danica has a synthetic soul and we saw that she was flattered that the sweet little girl called her pretty. It sort of disarmed her a little so it was nice to know that an innocent child's bluntness touched the hard core Danica preventing another body showing up on the street.

Danica's got a gun...

         6. The fight scene between Dorian and Danica was epic. It was like seeing the yin and the yang go at it. Danica pointed out that she and Dorian were a lot alike; that their "sacrifice" (I assume for Dr. Vaughn) was necessary. But Dorian refused to see them in any way the same. Dorian may have been impaled but that doesn't make him weaker than Danica. I'm sure that if John hadn't have stepped in then he would have wasted Sarah Connor.

Having daddy issues is a part of the
being human experience

        7. John comforting Dorian about being betrayed by his "father" was heart warming. Dorian feared that he would turn out just like Danica, that there was a possibility that he could go beserk whether by malfunction or by his own choice as Vaughn said he had done nothing different between his programming and Danica's when making their synthetic souls. John's reassurance that Dorian was nothing like the MXs was true but when he said the same thing about Dorian and Danica that was really deep.

In for the kill!

Next "Favorite Scenes" will be about "Perception". I hope to get that out as soon as I can.
