TVD: What If Elena Became A Witch?

              I don't know if many people remember this but apparently Katherine's father was a Traveler, which is a kind of witch but more of a purist (whatever that means in magic terms). Yet he was also a self hating Traveler. We know that the witch gene is inherited through genetics making Katherine a sort of witch and by extension Elena. So if Elena had discovered this trait earlier would she have started practicing magic?

How hard is it to light a candle with your mind?

         Bonnie was Mystic Falls' only witch. Which means she alone shouldered the burden of protecting the town. If Elena had discovered earlier that she had some witch powers too then Mystic Falls would have had two witches to protect it from evil. I'm sure Bonnie would have loved the company but then again it would have probably put them at odds when it came to Elena's taste in men.

Sometimes your friends don't get your boyfriend

         Elena is a very compassionate person. At first, when she found out that Stefan and Damon were vampires she freaked (it would have been weird if she didn't). But after a while she discovered that Stefan was not entirely a monster or he didn't want to be and so Elena stayed with him for his empathy, kindness, and desire to be good. Even though witches no matter what class hate immortality, Elena would have more than likely stuck by her fanged friends. Of course she would stop them from hurting innocent people but she would never turn on them (unless it was under extreme duress). Bonnie however, in Season 1 needed more convincing. I have no doubt that she loves Elena as her best friend but they would have clashed on the vampire subject. Bonnie's encounters with Damon sort of poisoned her relationship with Stefan, Elena's boyfriend, and Bonnie still would have let Stefan and Damon die in that fire where the Human Council tried to kill all the vampires.

             But Elena and Bonnie would have made up. At least I hope they would have. They have faced some trials together that really tested their bond but they got out of every scrape okay. They're both freaking martyrs who are ready to throw their lives away but that trait they share gives them a strong connection. They are ready fighters and whatever the problem whether it pits them against each other or not, Bonnie and Elena will always be friends. It's sort of better that Elena never found out that she's got some magic in her blood. We prefer equal focus on all characters otherwise it just makes Elena seem the center of the universe. Besides she had enough to deal with like vampire love triangles and doppelgänger hybrid curses. Don't need to add capricious spirits and nature balance to the mix.
