Supernatural: Dean's A Demon So Now What?

That creeps me out every time. Rise and shine, Dean
I feel like the writers of Supernatural are jumping the shark a bit but why not make Dean a demon. Producers promise that Demon Dean will make for a darker season as Sam and Dean spend some time apart (again). Dean took up the First Blade once held by the Father of Murder himself, Cain, and like always Dean didn't look before he leaped. He took it upon himself to be the monster he believed himself to be and died trying to kill Metatron who in the end was put in Heaven's jail (what a waste for Dean's damaged soul). Now Sam is trying to find a way to save Dean (although he said he wouldn't do what Dean did to save Sam's life every time - actions speak louder than words I suppose). The Winchester's are one dysfunctional family that's for sure. But what does Dean's new demon status mean for our heroes?

Ooooo that feels good...

Rumors have circulated that confirm season 10 will be Supernatural's last season. Still can't believe it lasted THIS long but I'm not complaining it was bound to end someday. So when Dean realizes what he's become he may at first be very adverse to the idea. If you remember WAY back in season 3 where Dean had sold his soul to save Sam, he was having some anxieties about becoming a demon himself. After all, demons were once humans who made a few wrong choices and ended up in hell where they were tortured and twisted into the demonic nightmares they are now. So Dean's anxiety came true.

Always bet on Dean

But I will say that I'm not surprised Dean ended up at this point on his journey. He always felt like he was the worst person in the world; a monster no better than the ones he hunted and he helped Alastor torture souls in hell, which broke the first seal to start the apocalypse. I mean Sam was doing all sorts of horrible things but his excuse was he had no moral compass without his soul and Dean was fully aware of the evil he was doing and did it anyway. I think he was able to move past it a little after he stopped the end of the world, but that sort of thing sticks with you forever because now Dean realizes what evil he's capable of. And what about Dean's relationship with Cas now that he's a demon?

Intervention!

We know Sam will go through a rough transition and do something dark to try and save Dean (or just kill him I don't know) and he'll want Castiel's help. Cas's battery is running low on power now as his Grace is starting to flicker. Once that Grace runs out Cas is done for. He won't be human he'll be dead. Angels and demons by nature don't get along. Hating each other is built into their DNA so Dean becoming a demon will definitely put a strain on their relationship for certain. Cas may try to save Dean before his light goes out but Dean may just end up pushing Cas away (because that's what Dean does). I do hope the writers find a way to save Cas. The last season would suck if our favorite angel in a trench coat died after all he's been through to try and do the right thing.

Dean puts his torture skills to work

As for Crowley? In season 9 the King of Hell was hooked on that sweet human blood that made him feel human feelings (and who knew Crowley liked girls!). It was a regular crack den in his hotel room until Sam and Dean had an intervention. After getting the First Blade we thought Crowley was cured but then Abaddon decided to hold a family reunion for the demon king. Although Crowley and his son Gavin didn't have a great relationship, Crowley didn't want to send his son back to his own time where the ship Gavin was supposed to be on sank with all life lost. He wanted to give his son a chance to change his life; it's the least he could do after giving Gavin a horrible childhood. How can Sam and Dean not realize that letting Gavin stay isn't messing up the timeline if all those people on the boat died? Gavin wasn't supposed to live past that year so it doesn't really effect anything. I guess since Dean and Sam broke so many rules they think they know better. But Crowley knew that Dean's new demon status would probably happen. Will Crowley guide Dean through his transition? It would be beneficial to Crowley to have someone like Dean on his side as he rebuilds his kingdom, but Dean's a wild dog and he hates Crowley so it may be that he'll tell the king to stick it where the sun don't shine.

Winchesters don't die... when they do they come back

The executives of The CW promise to try another spin off for their long running show but the last one didn't pan out that well. Probably because they went 90210 and that's not what Supernatural is about. Why the producers never thought to do a spin off about the Men of Letters mythology I have no idea. I mean the Men of Letters is now a big part of the show, it has a viable storyline, and most importantly it's familiar and it will not only draw in Supernatural fans but also bring in new blood to introduce to the show. All I can say is if the spin off doesn't work out again then I would be happy if Supernatural ends because it's one of a kind and can never be replicated. It had a great run that beat all the odds and now it's hard to imagine life without it. Hopefully we get a satisfying ending out of the series finale.
