Dominion: Arika & Uriel Their Deception

Birds of prey then to prey together
If you're like me your jaw must still hurt from hitting the floor after the Dominion season finale where we found out that not only is Arika really Evelyn but she and Uriel are lovers and working together! It just goes to show that the men on Dominion are not as sneaky or as clever as the women.

I can't figure her out. Her secrets have secrets

I had no clue that Arika was the real Evelyn mostly because there weren't any clues to even support a theory. For one thing when "Arika" first arrived in Vega her hand maidens had no idea who she was. Are the secrets of Helena so secret that not even its citizens know who their own queen is? Or what she even looks like? They don't have money with her face on it? I also wonder if Arika knew that Roan was a higher angel. Probably not. Perhaps an unforeseen variable? But I do feel she knew who Noma was. If Uriel knows every higher angel and where they nest then the Archangel could have revealed Noma's identity and Arika could have been trying to see if she could get Noma on her side. It doesn't hurt to have a higher angel body guard. And what about the whole wife thing? Maybe Evelyn did have a consort whom she needed to pretend to be her to keep up the charade. However, there's still that "sister in a box" event that happened. Arika (or should we call her Evelyn now? I'm not sure on that) seemed surprised; genuinely surprised. Maybe "Evelyn" got too big for her panty hose and decided to usurp the real Evelyn's position. But then again Arika was on that balcony signaling Uriel with a beacon. So was it planned or did Arika just modify her plan a bit after her "sister's" death? I don't know. I try not to look too deep into Arika mostly because the woman is a puzzle box within a puzzle box and my brain explodes trying to figure her out, which is what I love about her character.

This angel has these 2 dancing to her tune

When Uriel waltzed onto the scene we knew that there was more to her than meets the eye. Once she stated to both brothers that she would fight for them we knew she had her own agenda but weren't entirely sure what it was. The only thing we knew for sure was that Uriel was very interested in Alex's tattoos and even tried to translate them herself. I will say that Michael was right in that Uriel loved humanity... in her own crazy messed up way. She destroyed her favorite painting just to pull off a ruse but at least she kept the record player to play Chopin so she's not that crazy. And she may profess a love for her kind, keeping track of the higher angels but she had no problem sacrificing a few of them to help Gabriel. I suppose towards the end of season 1 she figured Gabriel had a better chance of getting Alex than Michael did in keeping him. Or maybe she wanted Michael out of the way. Alex is the type of person who sees what's right and what's wrong and Michael strengthened that idea. But even with Michael out of the way, Alex will still be hard to turn.

Uriel seems to be the only clever one of the siblings

So what are Arika and Uriel's plans? From what I can gather, Uriel believes the only way to bring God back is to gain peace between angels and humans like He always wanted. Arika I think just wants nuclear power (Really? We haven't learned our lesson before?). Truthfully I think Uriel's idea is the only way to end the war. Michael and Gabriel believe the war should end with one species winning. I don't think God would be happy to see his angels defeated or humanity completely wiped out. But I can't help but feel Uriel is no better than her brothers. She sacrificed both humans and her own angel brethren to satisfy her goals. She's even willing to abduct innocent pregnant Claire to get Alex to Helena where he'll be forced to help them translate the markings or... well you know how hostage situations work. This is why we need a season 2 to see Uriel and Arika's plan put into action!

This woman has you all fooled!
