The Originals: The Original Family Unites

Quite a time to be having Oedipus-Freudian Dreams

One of the things I loved about "A Closer Walk With Thee" was the kiss between Elijah and Hayley but also Klaus settling into approaching fatherhood. Already we see Klaus become a softer person when he said he wanted Hayley to be a part of the baby's life. "A child should be raised by it's parents," Klaus said as he showed Hayley the nursery, which I found very touching.

"The cycle of misery ends with this child"

There was little doubt in my mind that Elijah and Klaus would make up and come together again. But I was also afraid that Elijah would fall into old habits and make sacrifices to his own happiness again. Well those fears were put to rest with the Haylijah kiss. Elijah has lived for 1,000 years but he has never been so afraid of losing someone than when he saw Hayley dying on that table. So fears of Elijah putting his life on hold have been dissipated. Not sure if Klaus will like it but I think after saying he wants Hayley to be a part of the family and the baby's birth coming very close he will keep his murderous thoughts to himself and let his brother be happy.

The Mikaelsons attend many funerals

Speaking of Klaus, his father Mikael rearing his ugly abusive head has only cemented Klaus's resolve to be a better father. As he said, "The cycle of misery ends with this child." Klaus was even ready to tear Hayley open as she was dying to save his daughter. He refuses to lose this baby, which shows us that Klaus wants more than anything to be a dad. Even in the dream sequence when he found his baby in the coffin, Klaus smiled and gave a sweet, "Hey" and was even going to hold her, until his dick of father showed up. We all question why Klaus still calls Mikael "father" when he isn't, but Klaus said that it's your father that leaves the deepest emotional scars.

Open it! There's a surprise!

I don't think Klaus wants to be a better father just because of Mikael. Klaus feels like he failed his adoptive son, Marcel, in some way. Klaus had taught Marcel to not show weakness, which came back to bite Klaus in the end. Well you know what they say, the first kid is the practice kid. The immortal hybrid wants to raise his daughter better, surround her with love and maybe not teach her what was beaten into him.

They're allies once more... but for how long?

So Hayley has moved back into the compound and things seem to be good between Elijah and Klaus AND Elijah and Hayley have confessed their feelings for each other. Looks like the Mikaelson family has united as the baby's arrival is fast approaching, but there are still enemies such as Marcel who wants to take back New Orleans and the witches who are trying to commit infanticide. Hopefully the Mikaelsons can stay together long enough to protect the heiress and their whole family.
