Supernatural: 2nd Chance Pilot

We've discovered an untapped treasure trove!

Although Bloodlines has been passed on, The CW network executives have learned from their mistakes and are still looking to create a Supernatural spin off in Season 10. All I can say is: Great! But will the executives look a little closer to the show's other mythologies?

Unlock the secrets...

Usually when you want to do a spin off of a show you want to make it as different as possible but you also want some familiar characters from the original show to draw fans in. Being that most of the characters on Supernatural are dead I was thinking maybe going into the past. We know all there is to know about Hunters but what about the other side of Sam and Dean's family tree? How about good old grandpa Winchester, Henry?

"Back to the future moment!"

The Men of Letters mythology I feel is being overlooked in some ways. Yes, we've seen a few stories about the librarian society's adventures but they have so many more adventures to explore that could bleed into the future where our Winchester boys are in the present. People like cross overs. Men of Letters' missions could lead into future problems or ancient objects that Sam and Dean discover or have used in past seasons. So many possibilities here!

Having a beer with the grandkids

Also I liked Henry. So did Sam and Dean. Unlike Samuel, Henry actually cared about helping his grandsons. Yeah like Samuel, Henry was messing things up just so he could have his own child back but in the end he decided to help his son's sons defeat a demon instead of working for them. Henry showed that he was proud of his grand kids for upholding a Winchester family tradition: saving people and serving the greater good. I would really love to see Henry Winchester as a husband and a father to little John Winchester. We could see Henry struggle to continue his father's legacy while trying to be a family man and become a full fledged member. There are so many viable stories one can pull from the Men of Letters mythology. They may have looked down on Hunters as neanderthals but they also worked with them from time to time.

Good old fashioned hunting with grandpa

The point is: so many possibilities for this idea. It would be a shame if the CW executives just passed over this idea. Familiarity is crucial when creating a spin off. You want to make the spin off different but at the same time you want old fans to be drawn in who will draw in new fans who have never seen Supernatural. New people who see Men of Letters may want to explore the parent show so increase sales of Supernatural DVD box sets etc. Yes, fans who think doing a spin off of the Men of Letters please tweet or write letters to The CW. Letters are the best way to get a network's attention but any way you can, make sure you get the idea to them. We don't want another fiasco like Bloodlines. This show deserves the best given all it's survived and what it has accomplished.

It would be nice to see these guys again
