Leave it to Kenna to find an erotic journal. Although when she suggested that Lola try to find the man with the butterfly birthmark I was all for it and I strongly suspected that it would be Narcisse. For a minute I thought like a few other people that Narcisse was interested in our Medici Queen but it seems that it's more admiration on Narcisse's part. Ever since Narcisse opened up to Lola about his tragic past with his wives I could feel a spark between them. Crazy I know but just hear me out.
Narcisse is an ass who is the most ambitious and dangerous of Francis's noble subjects. No doubt as he's caused nothing but trouble for Mary and Francis who are so new to the throne but he has good reason because Mary murdered his son. Yes Narcisse Jr. deserved it however, he was still Narcisse Sr.'s baby boy and he loved him. Narcisse has shown moments of vulnerability with mourning his son and then his fourth wife the troubled Estelle. He tries to justify his black mailing of Francis by saying it's what's best for France but we know it's more about as Catherine put it, "for power and revenge." Narcisse lives up to his ruthless reputation but then comes Lola...
I know Lola broke the girlfriend code when she slept with Francis but let's be honest, it's better that she's the mother of Francis's son because a complete stranger would have been a repeat of the Olivia affair in season 1. At least Lola won't try to outshine Mary. Quite the opposite, Lola prefers independence and to stay out of the spot light kind of like Narcisse who works from the shadows. Lola is a strong person with a big heart. She's fierce in helping her friends and risked capture to help Estelle escape the castle. It's not hard to see why it didn't take Mary long to forgive her childhood friend. It's also not a huge wonder that Lola's the type of person you could open up to.
After Lola and Kenna talked about the mystery lover with the butterfly birthmark I knew it had to be Narcisse. He's a very private person so of course the mystery lady courtier would leave out vital descriptions that made the rest easy to name. Narcisse was right that he and Lola are alike (with key differences of course) and I think Lola is just the sort of woman who can soften those sharp edges that this nobleman likes to cut people with. And Lola could use a man with experience. She's so worried about other people that Lola should welcome a wild romance. In my opinion they could challenge each other in many ways that would encourage emotional and spiritual growth. Hopefully Lola joins Narcisse for tea. See where this relationship goes.
You have to admit Narcisse has style. |

Lola's a catch so any guy would be lucky to have her |

There was intrigue here but Narcisse needs a wife. |
