Revolution's Favorite "Non-Couple": Charlie & Monroe

There's a weird chemistry here...

I don't know what it is about this "couple" but the brooding Monroe and good hearted Charlie are fans' favorite non-coupling. Although there is a big age difference and Charlie hates Monroe for killing half her family, I also see a weird connection here.

Road trip!

Bass was a complete gentleman.
First season, Monroe kept calling Charlie "Charlotte" with his usual smooth charm that he uses on women. I saw that Monroe sort of admired Charlie reminding him of her uncle Miles. Monroe saved Charlie's life twice: once in season 1 in the Tower and once in season 2 when she was drugged and about to get gang raped. Some would certainly point out that there's a part of Bass that may have some small affection for his best friend's niece.

Is it weird I find Monroe very attractive?
Season 2, Charlie and Monroe have more interaction and these two just couldn't help but get snarky with each other, but not like when it's Rachel and Monroe where as she said it's like gasoline and a match. Charlie seems to have more common sense than Rachel. Sure Charlie hates Bass and tried to kill him but after she found out that her mother was wanted by the Patriots and after Bass saved her, Charlie realized his value to their team. Bass is a psycho killer and someone has to be the bad guy or else Miles would have to be (and he already expressed disdain for the job). These two also make a good team in the heat of battle. In "Everybody Says I Love You" when Charlie needed Bass most he came through to help her fight off the Patriots that had them pinned in the gymnasium.

Bass has boundaries.
The writers love to tease us about a possible sexual chemistry as when Bass came to Willoughby with Charlie, Miles was very upset: "I know you, you son of bitch, what did you do to her?" "Whoa I didn't touch her." Then Charlie interjected, "Hey! I wouldn't let him touch me." Then there was after Bass saved Charlie from rapists and Charlie woke up, Bass said, "Don't worry I was a complete gentleman." So I guess Bass has dated (or let's face it, slept with) early 20 somethings before. Then there was that lady warlord in New Vegas who took one look at Charlie and said, "Picking them kinda young." But Charlie decided to slake her Monroe fix on the younger Monroe, Connor Bennett. Needless to say, Bass was not thrilled. It was mostly because if Rachel found out she would definitely kill Bass despite what Miles says, but Bass didn't lash out at Charlie. I guess he figured yelling at her would be pointless. Still I think Bass was angry because he has some small kinship with Charlie that was bonded in fighting the Patriots just like Bass has attached himself to Miles because they've gone through hell together.

These two could be a great team.

Trust me, a girl wants a guy like Bass to save her from gang rape!

Charlie has matured over the last year, which is why I think Connor is so taken with her. On some level I suppose she is Rachel's, Miles', and Aaron's equal mentally as well as emotionally. Yet Charlie still has a sliver of humanity in her that Monroe is struggling to find. I doubt Bass and Charlie would ever venture onto a romantic or even a sexual relationship, but that doesn't stop fans from hoping or writers from teasing. Despite all the speculation I do believe that there's a part of Bass that is connected to Charlie. He expressed his desire to not let another of the Matheson kids to die and Charlie is old enough to realize that Monroe is too essential in a fight so they may come to rely upon each other more.

We should do a pros & cons list for this pairing.
