OUAT: "Gong Home" Review

WARNING: SPOILERS!!!!

Well Oncers, OUAT will be taking a hiatus until March. March will indeed be mad, but perhaps what made everyone mad was how the winter season finale ended.

The thing that some people complained was about the convenient plot twists that happened. One of them being the Blue Fairy coming back to life. It's a fairytale it's supposed to have convenient plot devices or else the heroes wouldn't be able to defeat the bad guys.

Speaking of which, Pan seemed to fail in his diabolical plan to defeat our heroes using Regina's curse. Peter Pan as you recall turned out to be Rumplestilskin's father (wow, no wonder Rumple had abandonment issues). But Rumple seemed to turn out a better father… well better than Pan anyway. After Pan switched bodies with his great-grandson, Henry, the gang quickly switched them back. If there's a will then there's some pixie dust you can use to fix any dilemma. Pan still will not admit defeat and proves how big of a dead beat dad he really is by snapping at Rumple how he ruined his father's life the day he was born.

Pan just won't quit as he subdues the Dark One and tries once again to take Henry's heart. Yet Rumple makes the ultimate sacrifice and kills his father with the dagger of the Dark One as well as killing himself. Rumple's words, "Villains don't get happy endings" seemed to hit home. However, fans would argue with Rumple that he wasn't such a villain in the end.

Speaking of reformed villains, Regina seems to be a part of the good guys now. She even stopped calling Henry her son and instead when talking to Emma she calls him our son. Points for Regina on emotional growth. Regina even gives Emma and Henry happy memories as they drove away and their minds were wiped clean of their Storybrook memories. The day Henry was born, instead of Emma refusing to even see her son, Emma is overcome with motherly affection and decides to hold him after all, leading to her deciding to keep Henry.

Some of flash backs I feel were disconnected and unfinished but they also explained the events leading to Season 1. The one with Hook and Tinkerbell was electric and I needed a cold shower after that one.

What sucks for me is that Emma and Henry have forgotten all about their family. It took them forever to find each other only to be parted again and they don't even remember! However, the ending with Hook knocking on Emma and Henry's door was a redeeming part. Plus Hook trying to make Emma remember by planting a kiss on her, but Emma just pushed him away. How did Hook get back and why? What's the danger that will haunt our heroes next year? As it so happens the Wicked Witch of the West has decided to hop on her broom and fly to the Enchanted Forest for some wicked pleasure. I hope Snow White and Charming bring plenty of buckets of water.
