The Messengers: Death Becomes Her Review

Locked in a room stocked with liquor with Diogo Morgado?
Sounds more like Heaven to me

Just when you think it's all black and white someone blurs those lines and you see it's all really gray. The Devil was our angel "ally" and Rose has been a devil in disguise.

Death really DOES become her

    The Dark Horseman Cometh

My head did a total 360 when I heard that Rose had everyone fooled from day 1! She's not a Messenger but the Horseman of Death. Can I say how amazing the writers are for that twist. When Leland was bailed out of jail I thought it was the Devil. We all kinda thought that but it was Rose in league with Secretary Richards. Rose may be crazy but like many people she didn't start out that way. Her first kill was a soldier who was in a huge amount of pain and was going to die slowly in agony. Anyone would have helped to put that soldier out of his misery. Rose gets a pass there but then she brought the war home and started mercy killing terminal patients.

Happiness is a warm gun...

If you're gonna go it might as well be on that dragon

But even then when you see that it's just elderly, terminal patients you still hold faith in Rose. However it's slippery slope. Each time it got easier, which was the scary part. So nothing was stopping Rose from bumping off her ex-lover's wife. She even stole the poor woman's wedding ring! Rose has reached Fatal Attractions level psycho. We all saw her showing off that ring in the beginning, which now holds a whole new meaning for us. Now we have no excuse for Rose; she is beyond redemption.

It just came to him a bit late....

Stealing too? Have you no shame???

The Messengers took some convincing. Even Joshua realized in time that Rose was not being truthful. He lied about his vision and she kills him with her Kiss of Death but before the light leaves his eyes Joshua laughs in her face that he wasn't so truthful either. HA! Suck it, Rose!

Because I'm "The Devil" DUH you never would have believed me

Let's play Devil's Advocate

The Enemy of My Enemy is My Frenemy

If your neck doesn't hurt from the Revelation about Rose then the Devil's confession about his whole "Doomsday Plan" certainly will. Instead of modeling the Devil after the Christian Lucifer (which has been the norm), the show runners decided to model the Devil after the Hebrew Satan, which is a whole separate entity and while Satan and Lucifer share the "tendency to misbehave" trait they are completely different as far as motivation. Satan has God's permission to be a manipulative, back stabbing, double dealer.

It's not fun of no one else is drinking

Say what you will at least Satan is honest about his dishonesty

Satan is known as The Adversary. He's not a fallen angel. Think of him as the prosecuting lawyer. His job is to be an evil angel that makes a case against humanity. Satan has incredible power but he's always been under God's complete control. Remember that whole bet about Job? Satan made that guy's life hell but even through all that Job still praised God's name. That explains why Satan's apocalypse never really comes to fruition. His heart was never in it. And it would explain why The Man can't directly influence events only nudges things and let's the crap rain down because angel rules dictate that they're not allowed to interfere directly. Think of him as that naughty devil on your shoulder telling you to steal that cookie from the cookie jar. Luckily for all of us, Satan also loves his job. Messing with people is his favorite past time and if the world ends then the fun would too. He may hate humanity but he hates boredom even more.

Look another ominous clue that doesn't mean anything NOW
but will LATER. Ass.

Suckers, Corner Pocket...

So it's really best if the Horseman are under Satan's control because under Rose they are determined to bring about the Apocalypse. When called on all of his evil tricks, I loved the Devil's line: "We may be allies, but we are definitely not friends." It basically sums up his role pretty well. Satan is an evil angel who like an angel speaks in riddles and nudges you in the direction you need to go but he's no guardian angel so don't expect him to pick you up when you fall. More like he'll be chuckling in an evil way while you cry on your scraped bleeding knees.

Nice scrap book of crazy

Nice... artwork... A bit macabre

     Art Imitates Life

Okay are we sure Amy isn't some prophet? She makes these drawings that are like God's signs. She could be the real 7th Messenger. If not then I go back to my prophet theory. She drew Joshua dead and Rose holding the needle that killed her rival. She doesn't remember drawing them but she drew them nonetheless. Maybe God put a pause on the Apocalypse so Amy could grow older. Seven years before they were all in Houston's Memorial Hospital, which was when the race against the Apocalypse clock was supposed to start but God decided to hold off on it for a while.

Obviously she had a lot of time on her hands

Maybe it was because Rose was planning to do things her way instead of following the Devil or perhaps for other factors (who knows why God does these things) but Amy is playing a bigger part in this fight. Erin doesn't want her daughter to join this war especially since most of them may die but she should have left Amy with relatives then (not Ronnie). Amy's important to the Messengers. And we finally know who's been stalking them: Eliza Shepherd comes with her scrap book of crazy. Where is she getting all of these pictures?

We need the whole band for this tour

We all know that deals with devils never end well but when you and Satan have a common goal a deal may be too good to pass up. Without Joshua the Messengers are screwed (and just when Peter finally gets a girlfriend, figures). Doesn't matter that Joshua lied about his vision to Rose they're going to find the next Horseman and try to break 3 more Seals. Raul was out voted so Joshua will be rejoining the living shortly.

Deal or no Deal?
