OUAT: The Dark Swan Rises

Every Dark One is different I guess.
Lucky for Emma!

I don't know about you but I'm happy to see Jennifer Morrison playing the bad guy this season. It really shakes things up. Plus it was a long time coming. But the most interesting aspect of the story is the Dark One's dagger being a piece of Excalibur that somehow broke off to create the first Dark One. So what happened that caused Emma to go Dark Side?

AH-HAaaa...Ooooooh Where's the other half?

One of my theories is somewhere down the line Arthur finds out Emma's the Dark One and tries to steal the dagger. Of course he doesn't remember because like everyone else his memories from that time were erased (this is a disturbing reoccurrence for the residents of Storybrooke). For this we should hate Arthur right? Maybe...

At least she doesn't blame Henry for anything

This is one of those interesting stories where you have two sides of good vs good. Both sides have noble intentions but they may have to cross each other or out wit the other in order to achieve their noble goals. You don't know who to cheer for and if you do then you kind of feel bad about it. Arthur and Guinevere need the other half of Excalibur to save their kingdom (though they seem to be doing pretty well without it). Snow White and Charming need to get the Darkness out of Emma. I'm inclined to be Team Charming Family on this one.

The monster at the end of this book is... NOT Regina

Another interesting thing is how Regina is becoming the new Savior on the block. It actually makes the most sense if you think about it. No one said that it was a sure thing Emma would grow up to become the Savior. She had just as equal potential to become something evil like the Dark One. It's just that Snow White and Charming got that darkness out of Emma to give her a better chance. And yet despite all of their efforts Emma turned into the Dark One anyway. Karma? Fate? Who knows. All I know is that the Savior doesn't have to be born. Heroes are more often made. This would also be a great way for Regina to really redeem herself to the people of Storybrooke. Even though Regina is fully a part of the Charming Family she still saw herself as the Evil Queen. Even Grumpy was on board Regina the Savior Train by the end of episode 2.

If she says "Dearie" then we've truly lost Emma!

So what's Emma's plan and what else is coming to spread more darkness into Storybrooke? Well we know Emma plans to get rid of any trace of light in her. Sever her connection to her loved ones and family to go full on dark. The other threat? We'll need more pieces of the puzzle for that.
